French Language Courses for All Levels

Our French immersion courses meet a wide range of general language needs across a broad range of linguistic abilities and are intended to help you achieve a variety of communication goals according to your level of ability. The diversity of our course offer and the flexibility of the educational organization at ILA (multiple levels, flexible starting dates, variable course lengths and intensity) allow you to learn the French language according to your needs and time.

STANDARD COURSE

20 lessons per week
(9:00 am – 10:30am / 10:45 am – 12:15pm)

Start : Every Monday except for absolute beginners (see dates).
Levels: All levels (A1 to C2)
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10)

The Standard Course is organised around intensive acquisition of four skills (oral and written production and comprehension). It is designed according to the official recommendations of the CEFR and allows assimilation and vocabulary, grammar and structures, oral and written intensive practice, as well as an approach of the French culture and civilisation.

INTENSIVE COURSE

30 lessons per week
(9:00 am – 10:30am / 10:45 am – 12:15pm + 3 afternoons from 1:15 pm – 3:50 pm)

Levels: All levels (A1 to C2)
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10)

In addition to the Standard Course, the Intensive Course offers 10 extra French lessons orientated mainly on oral expression, and a deeper look into French culture and civilisation. This comprehensive course will particularly develop communication skills in discussions, listening comprehension, phonics or oral expression, helped for instance through presentations students will give. In contact activities which take place outside of school may also be organised during the intensive course, followed by related exercises.

COMBINATION COURSE

20 + 5 lessons per week
(9:00 am – 10:30am / 10:45 am – 12:15pm + 5 lessons One-to-One training)

Levels: All levels (A1 to C2)
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10) / One-to-one lesson: 1

This course combines the dynamics of the Standard Course with individually prepared private courses. Before your 1st private lesson, you will inform us on your specific goals so that the teacher can prepare a unique course just for you. The teacher can also help you define your goals during the first course.
The one-to-one courses can also be an opportunity to look into technical vocabulary (hotel industry, tourism, medical, legal etc.), or to prepare for a particular exam.

DELF / DALF EXAM PREPARATION COURSE

20 + 10 lessons per week
(9:00 am – 10:30am / 10:45 am – 12:15 pm + 3 afternoons 1:15 pm – 3:50 pm)

Start : Every Monday except for absolute beginners (see beginner dates). If you want to sit the exam during your stay, please do consult exam dates.
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10)

The DELF B1, DELF B2 and DALF C1 exams are prepared during a specific course in which students receive intensive training for each level of the examination. Preparation courses for exams last six weeks and end the week before the exam takes place.
However, we recommend a stay of 8 to 12 weeks for optimal preparation. You will start with an Intensive 30 lesson course, which offers the most comprehensive training in French, and provides you with the necessary basic knowledge to be able to undertake specific exams.
The DELF A1, A2 and DALF C2 can be prepared during a Combination Course.

STANDARD COURSE + BUSINESS FRENCH

20 + 10 lessons per week
(9:00 am – 10:30am / 10:45 am – 12:15 pm + 3 afternoons 1:15 pm – 3:50 pm)

Levels: All levels from B1
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10)

In conjunction with the Standard course, this course provides an intensive training in oral and written communication for the business world, with scenarios such as speaking in meetings, job interviews, negotiations, telephone calls etc. It emphasises particularly on the lexicon of specialties; Continuous practice of oral expression will take place, students exchanging spontaneously about professional experience and personal knowledge.
This course is suitable for anyone wishing to communicate effectively in a professional environment.

LONG TERM COURSES

20 or 30 lessons per week
see Standard Course or Intensive Course

Levels: All levels (A1 to C2)
Number of students : 5 – 8 (maximum 10)

The course content is the same as for the Standard or Intensive Courses; throughout your whole learning you will receive regular tutoring from our educational advisor. If you book an Intensive course, you will be able to change to a DELF / DALF preparation course if you wish to.

PRIVATE TRAINING

20, 25, 30 or 40 lessons

Private courses are fully customised French language lessons. After a needs assessment is set, you let us know your specific language goals so that the teacher can build a course matching your will. The teacher can also help you define your goals during the first course.
You can practice technical vocabulary (for hotel industry, tourism, medical, legal etc.), or prepare for a particular exam.
This course is ideal for professionals, executives and those with little time wanting to progress very quickly.

1 lesson = 45 minutes

During the summertime (July/August) and high season, we reserve the right to change the schedule of the courses in order to garantee a better quality of reception and training of our students.
