💋 Dear readers,
January marks the beginning of a new year at ILA-IH Montpellier, our French language school in the south of France. After the holiday break, the school reopens its doors and once again welcomes students from around the world for a language stay in Montpellier.
Between reunions, renovation projects, and delicious French traditions, here’s a glimpse into life at our school for those who dream of learning French in France through full immersion.
🎉 WEEK 1: Reopening, reunions, and a renovated residence
After the festive break, the school comes back to life. Colleagues reunite, exchange New Year wishes, and share holiday memories. The atmosphere is warm, friendly, and full of energy to kick off the year.
Students also return with stories from their Christmas holidays: travel adventures, family meals, and their first real conversations in French — sometimes hesitant, but always rewarding. Because a French immersion program in France is also about practicing the French language in real-life situations.
The big highlight of the week? Discovering the newly renovated ILA student residence, refurbished during the school closure. Freshly repainted and modernized, it now offers students the perfect environment to enjoy a true French language immersion experience in Montpellier.
🛠️ WEEK 2: Renovation of our historic building begins
This week marks the start of an exciting large-scale project: the renovation of our oldest school building.
An ambitious undertaking that requires careful planning and organization, but one that reflects our ongoing commitment to improving the experience of students attending our French courses in Montpellier.
We are already looking forward to unveiling the final result this summer to future students coming to learn French at our language school in Montpellier.
👨💻 WEEK 3: New intern and the Galette des Rois tradition
Our new web development intern is already celebrating his third week at ILA. He is discovering how our French language school in France operates — from digital projects to daily multicultural life. He’s even started chatting with students to practice his French!
Meanwhile, students continue to enjoy another essential January tradition: the Galette des Rois (King Cake). It’s a delicious way to discover French culture while sharing a friendly moment after class.
Because learning a language also means understanding its traditions — and that is an essential part of a French immersion experience in France.
🥞 WEEK 4: Welcoming new beginners and celebrating La Chandeleur
As January comes to an end, the team is already preparing for the arrival of new beginners who will start their French courses in Montpellier. Class organization, welcome sessions, and schedules are carefully arranged to ensure every student begins their language stay in France in the best possible conditions.
At the same time, La Chandeleur (French Pancake Day) is just around the corner. A crêpe party is in the works — another wonderful opportunity to bring students and staff together around a warm French tradition.
Because a language stay in Montpellier is not just about studying French — it’s about living the language daily, sharing authentic moments, and discovering French culture in all its richness.
💋 XOXO,
Emma – still your favorite insider.
