Life at our French Language School in Montpellier

Your first day at our French language school

Since you already made your placement test online prior to arrival, you will be able to start your French language course in Montpellier in the morning of your first day. You will therefore not lose any of your valuable French language course due to a placement test and evaluation taken only locally. We ask our students to come once only at 8:00 am on their first day to take part in a presentation of our French language school in Montpellier.

During this presentation you will receive our welcome pack including the ILA guide, a map of Montpellier and the ILA folder. The ILA guide contains many useful tips on the day to day life of our French language immersion school and educational organization as well as useful information on Montpellier for shopping, spare time activities, restaurants, excursions, useful addresses and telephone numbers etc. After the presentation you will be introduced to your teacher and start your French language course.

In the afternoon of your first day at our French language immersion school there will be an orientation tour of Montpellier showing you the beauty of Montpellier but also providing you with additional practical information.

Welfare

You can get help in several languages for all questions concerning your French language stay such as: complete an administrative documents, opening a bank account, booking an appointment with the doctor, getting information on the public transport network or on bike rentals, sports activities in Montpellier, and on the school’s extra-curricular activity program.

We have our in-house accommodation department that selects and controls the families and residences. They will be available for you for any questions you might have during your stay or any assistance you might need.

Our French school is located in the very heart of Montpellier‘s historic centre in a fully renovated, private mansion house dating back to the 18th century. Antique features like ceiling paintings and corniches mix well with modern facilites:

After the French course

Self study

Indispensable to “anchor” the knowledge acquired in class. Your teachers give you homework every day (30 minutes maximum) to be done for the next day. You can also use the computers available in the ressource center to access self-learning websites. Additionally, you can borrow various educational resources like books, DVDs etc.

Monitoring your learning : tutoring

Melanie, our educational advisor is available for conselling sessions to assist you for any advice you need for your learning process during your residentail French languag stay in France. If you have a difficulty in a particular learning area, or you would like to define your learning goals – Melanie will guide you on learning strategies and specific resources to be used.

Social and cultural activities at school

We regularly organize events for students to get to know each other and to create a warm and friendly atmosphere in our French school in Montpellier: Welcome drinks, welcome quiz, film watching, various competitions, workshops and tastings as well as student parties.

We also organize a wide range of activities outside of our French language school as well as half and full day excursions to discover our wonderful region including its numerous UNESCO sites.

Lunch/Snacks

Our French school in Montpellier is situated in one of the most beautiful pedestrian street in the historical center, numerous terraces, coffe shops, take aways, unexpensive bistrots etc. are just next to our immersion school.

Drinks machines are available at our French language school in Montpellier.

Your last day at school

Your precious certificate specifying your French level and attendance rate will be given at the end of the French immersion course. You will also be given a school evaluation form which we appreciate you filling in. Each member of the team carefully reads your suggestions and opinion. This is valuable and essential information for our quality approach.

This is also the time to say goodbye to your teacher, our team and your classmates – we hopefully will see you again soon for another French language immersion course at our French school in France.
